The screen time of Americans quietly adds up throughout the day, including before and after work.
According to an American Optometric Association survey, 62% of adults said they spent five or more hours a day using computers, smartphones and tablets. Of those, 23% reported eight to 10 hours a day on their devices, and 14% said 10 or more hours.
With all that time staring at digital devices, more people are complaining of vision problems and eye discomfort. Estimates are that at least 50% of technology users experience symptoms associated with digital eyestrain, according to a 2018 study published in the journal BMJ Open Opthalmology.
